Jökulsárlón

Jökulsárlón located in Southeast Coast is a Glacial lake with icebergs. This glacial lake is a proof that global warming is real, it developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

I was so lucky to meet these beautiful wild seals on the Glacier. They were laying and chilling peacefully.

The weather on the south east was mostly cloudy. It wasnt fun to drive on those weathers. But Iceland always has a way to satisfying its visitors.

a ghostly procession of luminous blue icebergs

It started drifting in land rapidly every year leaving deep holes in the road, which got filled with melted water and large chunks of ice. These icebergs melt down into smaller ice blocks and roll out into the sea.

The glacier was blue and a little black with ash from the recent eruption but was fascinating - the formations, view of the glacial lagoon, 50m crevasses and tunnelling into the glacier for melting ice flows.

Also I found out lots about volcanoes because of the recent eruption - the guide thought that the ash might put people off doing the glacier hike but I got the best of both worlds - there are other glaciers to view the brilliant white/blue colours on.

Svinafellsjokull is astonishing, one of the highlights of my trip to Iceland.
