Reichstagsgebäude or Reichstag situated close to Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburger Gate), in this bulding seat the German Bundestag or German’s parliament. The building was completed in 1894 after the founding of the German Empire in 1871. The famous inscription “DEM DEUTSCHEN VOLKE” was added later in 1916. 

 

The original building was heavily destroyed in 1933 by the fire and was not repaired until the end of the second World War when Germany’s defeated. After the West Germany’s capital was moved to Bonn in 1949, the building was remained abandoned. After a long period time of reconstruction the new Reichstag building was officially opened on 19 April 1999. 

Despite a long important history of the building, the magnificent glass dome of the building is open to public prior advance registration. It has 360 degrees panoramic view of the surrounding Berlin landscape city.

Some people might wondering which is the best time of visiting the dome, either during the day or in the night. Most people who have been there will say, both! There is no better time to visit the dome, either you choose to plan a visit during the day or later at night, you will have experience a great time. 

Free admission is one other good reason to visit Reichstag and you also can apply for a tour guide at certain time but if they do not have the slot anymore, one can simply use an audio tour guide that available in 10 languages.

 

The opening time is daily and you can choose between 8 AM until midnight, please note that the last admission is 22.00. For those who have not registered in advance still can make a visit but need to queue outside the building.
